Cryotherapy & Wart Removals
At parkhill medical center, our doctors prefer to use cryotherapy for wart, skin tag or skin lesion removal. Cryotherapy is a very common treatment used for this type of lesion or wart removal, which works by freezing the wart using extremely cold temperatures. During your treatment, your doctor will freeze any warts or skin tags using pure liquid nitrogen. With our Cryotherapy treatment, a special applicator will be used to pinpoint and freeze the wart, causing the cells within the wart to be destroyed and the wart to inevitably fall off.
Your doctor or specialist will perform three liquid nitrogen applications in your wart removal appointment. Each application will last between 20-30 seconds, which varies based on the size of the wart.
Does it hurt?
Wart removal treatment will involve freezing your wart with liquid nitrogen (during cryotherapy) and may cause a stinging or burning sensation. This discomfort usually subsides fairly shortly after the treatment is completed. Some patients may experience mild pain or discomfort afterwards, which can be managed with paracetamol or other over-the-counter pain relievers.
Is it effective?
Cryotherapy is an effective treatment for many types of warts. The success rate will depend on factors such as the size, location, and type of wart being treated. Some stubborn or large warts may require multiple cryotherapy sessions for complete removal.
